RE: Cooked/Raw deivce in the same machine??

Having cooked and raw chunks in the same instance is not a problem. If you are currently using KAIO, then you will lose this performance advantage. I would simply reorganise the other disk to create a raw chunk - reducing the filesystem sizes if necessary. Our informix is running on an unix machine having 2 hard disks. We use 1 hard disk as a raw device for informix. The problem is that there is no enough space in that raw device. I am thinking about creating a cooked device on the other hard disk and increasing database space. Is it possible to use raw device and cooked device concurrently in the same machine ? Do we have to execute 2 engines?(I don't want this.) If possible, is it stable? Maybe, we can change the raw device to cooked device But, how about the performance? If you had a similar experience, please help me! Do you need version information? Informix 7.14 on HP-UX 10.01. Sorry for poor English and poor DBMS knowledge. everybody... Be Happy!! :-)
