I am using SuSE-Linux 6.2 and IDS 7.5. Is there a way to patch the maximum number of open files. Within SuSE 6.2 it is set to 1024, but the IDS needs 3000 or more. Any help is welcome, thanks Andre
I believe this patch was only for 5.2 Red Hat Linux. It was a patch to go from 256 file descriptors to 3000 which is what informix recommeded. I have had the unsuccessful attempt to patch the file descriptors to 3000 on my linux box. It worked on a few other boxes but of course on a production sysem ... things never work to well ;--) I did manage to successfully install these patches but ... a word of advice be careful !!!! Check informix's website ... the linux part of the IDN to see if they have anything for your version of linux. You may not need the patch for your version. I am running 6.1 Redhat and things are running smoothly. Most times informix recommends an upgrade when you don't really need it. Be sure that this is something you really need (due to errors or problems running the instance ... performance and such) because you may create more problems than its worth. Lloyd AJ Wilson.
