Re: informix problem

You havn't said what front-end tool you are using (4gl, rds, esql/c) but the problem you have described was present in some versions of RDS. Sometimes Debugger is OK when 4gl/rds aren't - one of it's 'undocumented features'. I think your problem is a bug in (presumably) 'rds'. Presumably 'rds' as with '4gl' you could look at the generated code.... You may laugh but I think you will need to speak to informix with a tiny code fragment which demonstrates the problem, and then jump up & down until (if ever in 4.17!) you get a fix. We had this problem in 4.14 (unpatched versions) on several platforms. We got a patch and there is also (I believe) a corresponding patch in 4.16.
