Using 4GL with touch screens

Can anyone share their experience in developing applications around touch screens? There are products that overlay a grid on your monitor that are touch sensitive. How well do these work? What issues must be considered in writing applications for these screens? Can Informix 4GL be used with touch screens? Are any special drivers needed? Thanks! Rick Koril
