IIUG - Advocacy Program Announcement
Posted in 1997
7.8.1997 With this message, the IIUG Board of Directors would like to announce yet another expansion of our Advocacy Program -- the Feature Request Survey. Not long ago, Informix agreed to allow the IIUG to maintain and enhance their feature request database. In return, we agreed that on a periodic basis, we would conduct surveys to rank opinions on those product features that should be included in Informix's development plans. In a following message, we have prepared the first of these surveys. The features listed in this first survey come from Informix's database as well as ideas generated by a discussion on comp.databases.informix and compiled by Tim Schaefer. The features are not listed in any order with respect to engines or tools. They are, however, exclusively focused on product features, not marketing efforts, market-oriented product placement, or similar topics. The survey was constructed so that you could not only indicate which features ranked higher than another, but also give their ranking a "weight." You do this by "spending" fictitious units we're calling "IIUG Credits." You have 100 of them. You can spend them on as many or as few features as you want. We will aggregate the surveys returned and publish the ten features that garnered the most "credits." Our timeline on this survey is shorter than what we normally will do. We would ask that you respond as quickly as possible so we can present our results to Informix's Product Development Management at the Informix Worldwide User Conference in just a couple of weeks. To meet that objective, we will need your responses within a week. Again, I know it's short notice but your help and input would be valuable to have. So look for the message titled IIUG - Feature Request Survey #1 and let us know what you think! Carlton Doe President, IIUG carlton@iiug.org
