help on installing informix on Linux
Posted in 2012
A user installing IDS 11.50.FC9 on 64-bit RHEL 6 hit the InstallShield error "could not load wizard specified in /wizard.inf (104)". Running ids_install -console didn't help; the cause was an unsupported system Java, and running ./ids_install -javahome none (forcing the bundled JVM) got the install going. A follow-up problem was the installer complaining that libm.so.6, libc.so.6 and libncurses.so.5 were missing; advice was to find/install the matching (32-bit) distro packages under /lib or /usr/lib, or symlink an available version, but no confirmation of success is recorded.

thanks for quick response Art. Unfortunately that did not work either. Same error
Check you have downloaded the correct package for your OS. Untar the file and check SERVER/docs. Looks like a unsupported version of Java, <= div>./ids=5Finstall -javahome none This= will force the installer to use the version of java included in the produc= t folder. Linux hvgreyst23 2.6.32-279.14.1.el6.x86_64 #1 SMP Mon Oct 15 13:44:51 EDT 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux tying to install iif.11.50.FC9TL.linux-x86_64.tar Have already read notes hence why I post question
Hi, You should try to locate the libraries for your specific distro and try to install it, (Depends on what linux are you using: Suse, Red hat, etc) is the way to do it. Check under /lib or /usr/lib if the file are already installed (x86_32) on x86_64 must have a 64 and 32 folders to check in. Use the command: #find -name "libncurses*" to locate the file On Suse you can use Yast to install it, just search on "RPM Provides" and omit the "lib" part of the file, ie to install "libncurses" use "ncurses" as word to search. Sometimes when have a different version (ie: libncurses.so.4 instead libncurses.so.5) Just create a symlink whit the version required. hope helps you. -regards- On Tue, Nov 20, 2012 at 3:55 PM, KARL OLIVER <karl.oliver@maf.govt.nz>wrote: > Linux hvgreyst23 2.6.32-279.14.1.el6.x86_64 #1 SMP Mon Oct 15 13:44:51 EDT > 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 > GNU/Linux > > tying to install iif.11.50.FC9TL.linux-x86_64.tar > > Have already read notes hence why I post question > > > > ******************************************************************************* > Forum Note: Use "Reply" to post a response in the discussion forum. > > -- Salu2 Un cerebro holgazán es la morada del demonio, y ese demonio se llama Alzheimer --20cf306f72b0bf5f5304cef4d92a
