Re: Klingon Question.

The following is my accepted theory on how the Klingons changed between the TOS and what we see today... Thoughts and comments are welcomed. In the DS9 episode, " Trials and Tribblations" aboard the K-7 space station, O'Brian, ODO, Worf, and Bashir went to the cantina (bar) and the waitress made mention of the "Klingons", surprised, the three humans turned to Worf once the Klingons were revealed and asked Worf, to put it basically, what was the deal with their appearance. Worf, irritated by the question simply said, "We (Klingons) do not discuss the matter." This suggests that in the timeframe of TOS, the Klingons used genetics to alter their appearance to infiltrate the Federation without readily being recognized. Once the Federation recognized the "plot" and was able to identify the Klingons, the Klingon government abandoned the genetic deception. Most likely, the only Klingons to be altered were the "Front Line" warriors and Special Agents. Such as Kang, Kor, Koloth, Darvin. (Who retains his human appearance in this episode BTW) The reluctance of Worf's discussing the matter also suggests the genetics plot became accepted as an act of cowardace and best forgot. Those Front Line warriors were obviously "changed" back to their true appearance with the exception of Darvin, who was discommendated and expelled from the Empire before the changes were made. This explains his "human" appearance. As a note: I read somewhere the Federation had no idea of how the Klingons looked until the V-GER incident from Star Trek:The Motion Picture from the report that was intercepted from the KBC Amar (sp?) under attack.
