From zero users to 1300 sessions, what is your timeframe,
if that is small ie < 2 minutes then there is mileage in
reducing the number of connections and starting additional threads.

Although the users do come in gradually from 7am onwards we do get quite a
few surges where 300+ users will log in on the hour they come in. Our
current settings are soctcp,6,250,NET and the onstat -g ntd looks like :-
