VIR Datablade configuration question

I'd like to be able to have both: VPCLASS vir,num=1 and SINGLE_CPU_VP 1 in the same onconfig file, but the server carps: cannot use single cpu VP with custom VP. Adn the engine will not start. Performance4 is already slow, and I'd like to see if I can't speed the system by allowing the single_cpu parameter.
