I like the product, but after 5 years working with the company as VAR, and "pseudo distributor", I've suffered a lot with Informix's company policies, myths or facts. I'm following this thread closely with the hope that something good would come out of it. You can not bullshit your customers even if they are wrong. As I say, "it's not enough to be right to convince the other party to do what you want." And I learned that from my experience with Informix, when several times I was right but that was not enough to convince my marketing representative to do something. I'm not stating that they are wrong, but that's your prime basic fact judging from your bullshitting them. The first thing informix has to keep in mind is that most Informix developers do Informix programming and/or support for a living. Thus, every time you say something to them, be careful, you're playing with their food. To add my penny to the thread, I tried several times in the past (1986,87,88) to use tech support. My conclusion is I never used it since nothing came out it, they never told me anything I didn't know already, and I never will. I've developed a seventh sense to detect Informix's bugs and workaround. In fact, I should thank informix for it. Oh boy, the things we've been through!! No offense to tech support, I worked for a year in tech support here and I know how the feeling of impotence drives you nuts. (You know, you want to improve tech support, you work there and you can see with your eyes what should be done, but you can't do it) So, tech support guys, I'm on your side. Again, Alan shut up!! I'm sorry if I offend you, but offending doesn't seem to be an issue here since you didn't care if you offended others with your bullshitting. -- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Luis P.
