RE: Dynamic Server versus Universal Server ??
Posted in 2003
Originally, Version 7.x was called 'Informix Dynamic Server', Version 9.0x was called 'Universal server' Starting with 9.1, Universal server became 'Dynamic server with Universal data option'. With 9.2, new names 'Internet Foundation 2000 ' and 'Dynamic server 2000' ware given to the server (depending upon packaging) At that time, 9.xx became almost as capable of supporting OLTP applications, as 7.xx Now, 9.xx is just 'Informix Dynamic Server'. Version 7.xx is now at the end of the product lifecycle. ------------------------------------------ Alexey Sonkin Senior Database Administrator > -----Original Message----- > From: Jack A [mailto:hrehal@yahoo.com] > Sent: Tuesday, August 05, 2003 9:44 AM > To: informix-list@iiug.org > Subject: Dynamic Server versus Universal Server ?? > > What's the deal with these 2 terms ?
