help me to use onbar

Hi all, to backup and restore my databases with Informix 7.30 on AIX 4.3, I used ontape. Now I want to use the onbar utility. my question is: is there any changement that I mast done in my config files to use onbar and can I use onbar without using IMS (storage manager). I am wating for you friends to do my first backup with onbar. Thanks for any help.
