Hello, IDS 11.10 FC2W4 on Solaris 10 Pls refer me a document or help me in finding out if my file system supports direct I/O for the 2K and 8K page size dbspace chunk in my system so that i can set the onconfig parameter DIRECT_IO to 1 and use the direct I/O feature for better performance with cooked devices. Thanking you in advance Vikas

Thank you ! Is there any command which would show me if the directio feature is enabled/used/running on my server or i need to ask our system admin to enable it, i refered some man pages and web pages also checked for the /etc/vfstab entries but not sure how to confirm if its really running on my file system. I'm not an SA, and certainly not a Solaris expert, but FAIK all that is
required is for the application (in this case oninit) to open the files with
the O_DIRECT flag, which IDS will do if the file is COOKED, KAIOOFF is not
set (and KAIOON is set on HPUX), and DIRECT_IO is set to 1 in the ONCONFIG
file. The Performance Guide has a discussion of when IDS can and when it
cannot use DIRECT IO.
