Centura 1.5 and Informix DS - URGENT
Posted in 1999

We are experienced in programming client-server appl.: Gupta, Centura 1.1.* --> Informix DSA servers. Together with Centura 1.5 a strange problem appeared. We find out that every cursor starts new session on server. There are no new features concerning cursors in Centura docs, as we know. The problem is apparently Centura 1.5 specific, in older versions - cursors share session ID while parameters:database and user name are not changed. Thanks for any hints. katarina -- Katarina Hamzova Voice : +421 7 59684324 SWH s.r.o Bratislava Slovakia Katarina.Hamzova@swh.sk

Informix doesn't start a new session for each cursor. Therefore, it must be either Centura that is doing so of its own volition, or something you are doing. > There are no new features concerning cursors in Centura docs, > as we know. Since the problem appeared when you changed versions of Centura, the problem is (presumably) with that version. Even though it isn't a documented changed, they've done something to change the way they work with Informix databases. I note that separate connections can lock each other out if they try to access the same records. -- Jonathan Leffler (jleffler@informix.com, jleffler@earthlink.net) Guardian of DBD::Informix v0.60 -- see http://www.perl.com/CPAN #include <disclaimer.h>
