The best way to get started is to start learning on your own by downloading the free versions from the vendor web sites then read, read, read and test, test, test. The best way to become a true expert is to learn how to answer most of your own questions by doing research and performing test to prove, disprove and generate theories. Unless you are fortunate enough to get hired on somewhere to be a DBA and they train you then you'll have to train yourself. I would suggest that you focus on Oracle and SQL Server. Those are the two platforms that I believe have the most promise of success and demand in the future. ----- Original Message ---- From: "meraj000@gmail.com" <meraj000@gmail.com> To: informix-list@iiug.org Sent: Saturday, November 4, 2006 9:10:11 AM Subject: suggestion reqd for taking a career in DBA Hello to EveryBody out there, I'm a fresh graduate and willing to establish a career in Database Admin. please post your suggestions in regard with the above mentioned role.
