Informix thru the firewall
Posted in 1997
OK. Here's the deal. We have a web server (HP-UX) sitting outside our firewall, and a database server sitting inside our firewall. We've installed the ESQL/C on the web server and written several CGI programs that need to access the database. My question is "What do we need to do to our firewall to allow this?" My network administrator said the traffic is getting from the web server to the database server because he opened the appropriate port, but after the request has been completed on the DB Server, it can't get back to the web server because it picks another port. Is there any way to "nail" this returned data to a specific port so he can configure the firewall? Thanks in advance!!! Todd Breiholz Webmaster tbreiholz@jh-kvi.com
