You can use the SQL TRIM function:
TRIM( string ) Trim all leading & trailing spaces
TRIM( BOTH FROM string ) Trim all leading & trailing spaces
TRIM( LEADING FROM string ) Trim leading spaces
TRIM( TRAILING FROM string ) Trim trailing spaces
TRIM( LEADING "$" FROM string ) Trim leading dollar signs ("$")
etc.
