NetBeans anyone?

Hey! I know that most of the readers in this group are DBAs and not app developers. I know that IBM Rationals RAD (Rational Application Development) tool is built on Eclipse. But there are others IDEs like NetBeans. If you are a developer, NetBeans IDE is nice. Really nice, and free. Netbeans 6.5 has some nice improvements. Better integration with a database. In fact, if you go to the Netbean's website here: http://wiki.netbeans.org/DatabasesAndDrivers You'll see how easy it is to integrate and work with your existing database. Lots of databases work with Netbeans and the JDBC drivers are available. Heck, IBM supplies both type 2 and type 4 JDBC drivers for DB2. So where's IDS? Now I'm sure that eagle eye Serge will gladly point out that there *is* a JDBC driver for Informix. But if Serge and you look closely, you'll see that its not IBM's JDBC driver but DataDirect's driver. Not sure how up to date it is . So if IBM can supply NetBeans's wiki with Information about DB2's driver, why can't it supply information about IDS's JDBC drivers. Of course this is only a wiki. Its not like anyone at IBM gave away the driver, and you have to go to IBM's site (Registration required) to get a copy. And of course we don't know how old this information is since I thought it was IBM's goal to use DRDA as the interface in to *all* of their products. (It is still being called DRDA, right?) So what would it take for someone from the Lab to update the wiki page with the correct information for IBM's IDS database and their 'universal' drda drivers? Is that too much to ask? The point is that its the little things like this that help get the developer world out there to become brand aware. Perhaps now, that there's a huge shock wave running through the RIF survivors, clues will start sinking in and taking hold. But hey! What do I know? I decided to become a software engineer instead of a doctor. :-) -G
