I'm running IDS 9.30.UC2 on Redhat 7.1 in HP Netserver LXr8500 PIII
Xeon-700. The server has 4 processors. In my onconfig file I've the
following settings :-
MULTIPROCESSOR 1 # 0 for single-processor, 1 formulti-processor
NUMCPUVPS 3 # Number of user (cpu) vps
SINGLE_CPU_VP 0 # If non-zero, limit number of cpu vpsto one
NOAGE 0 # Process aging
AFF_SPROC 1 # Affinity start processor
AFF_NPROCS 3 # Affinity number of processors
NUMAIOVPS 2 # Number of IO vps
When I online the database I've got the warning msg(same as the
subject above) shown in the online log.
I read thru the release note and found out the following description
:-
Features not supported:
======================
The following features are not supported in this release because of
operating system limitations:
1. Processor Affinity
2. Kernel AIO is not available in Linux 2.2.
3. OnSNMP
4. Operating system audit
Does this mean that I can't make use of the multiprocessor feature and
I've to setting the parameter as below ?
MULTIPROCESSOR 0 # 0 for single-processor, 1 formulti-processor
NUMCPUVPS 1 # Number of user (cpu) vps
SINGLE_CPU_VP 0 # If non-zero, limit number of cpu vpsto one
NOAGE 0 # Process aging
AFF_SPROC 0 # Affinity start processor
AFF_NPROCS 0 # Affinity number of processors
NUMAIOVPS # Number of IO vps

I means that you cannot use processer affinity. Set the AFF_* parameters to 0.
