This is a very old issue. Informix tries to support as many UNIX systems as possible. Or at least they used to they've cut down lately. Anyway many UNIX systems had problems (AFAIK still do) with reporting EOT correctly. For this reason Informix has always used the TAPESIZE configuration parameter to control how much it tries to write before giving up and asking for a new tape. Art S. Kagel
