Out of extents
Posted in 2008
Hi,
on our development system, we get an out of extents error when altering
a specific table (add a column).
I have queried for extents in sysmaster:sysextents and get a strange
result:
dbsname HASHTEMP
tabname th_overflow_ffffffffffffffff
(count(*)) 710
dbsname sysadmin
tabname mon_table_profile
(count(*)) 231
Anybody seen this before ? Other entrries listed with > 100 extents are
for user tables.
The table we want to alter has 110 extents according to
sysmaster:sysextents, but I cannot reinitialize it with alter fragment.
This gives the error that the extent cannot be allocated.
So I assume, we have a problem not with this special table, but with a
system table (we did a fresh import of the db using dbimport and the
import failed with same error out of extents).
The DBSpace is not full, we just seem to run into an internal problem,
maybe a rebuild of sysmaster/sysadmin is necessary ?
It seems to me that the current information in sysmaster DB is not
reflecting the real state. Statistics for the table/database are
updated.
Setup is IDS 11.10FC2 Workgroup Edition on Solaris 9 SPARC (recently
upgraded from 10.00FC6).
We could reinit the whole system since we are on a development server
here, but this takes a moment to get the data loaded again.
Any ideas ?
