This is a "little" broad a question to answer. Here are however a few things you might want to start with. 1. Read the administration manual. This is key to everything else. There is a lot of valuable information that you simply have to know and it's very well written. 2. Go to http://www.dejanews.com and search this newsgroup for all posts made by Art S. Kagel. Very many of those will give you invaluable information about performance tuning that's hard to find other places. 3. As you seem to be from Germany go to http://www.weideneder.de and follow the link to "Weidi's Infoseiten. It also contains a lot of information that's hard to find other places. It's good enough that all the english only speaking people might want to take a german course just to be able to read it. 4. Go to http://www.iiug.org and look at all the information available there. For performance tuning you absolutely must have the dostats utility from util2_ak in the software repository, but there are lots of other things that are must have and know as well. Do check the books available. 5. If the above isn't enough you may want to take a course. Hope this helps as a start.
