Hi,
I use PDQ in my application, then use onstat -g mgm monitor the pdq state,
Queries Average # Maximum # Total #
-------------- --------------- --------- -------
Active 3.5 +- 4.4 18 172
Ready 14.5 +- 4.8 21 64
the ready queries always retain around 14, How can i reduce ready queries
queue.
PDQ config:
MAX_PDQPRIORITY: 100
DS_MAX_QUERIES: 100
DS_MAX_SCANS: 1048576
DS_NONPDQ_QUERY_MEM: 3200 KB
DS_TOTAL_MEMORY: 12800 KB
enviroment:
PDQPRIORITY=80
HP-UX, 6C 10G
Without knowing what the gates are, I cannot tell off the top of my head
what is gating the other queries.
At a guess I'd have to say PDQPRIORITY. If everyone has it set to 100, then
only one will be able to run at a time. If you lower it to 20 or 25, then
you could run 5 or 4 at a time. It would behoove you to check the queries
in question to determine what value you are getting out of the PDQPRIORITY
setting. I generally only crank it up when I know the query wil be doing a
hash join, otherwise a value of 2-5 is enough to turn on parallel scans.
