}It would seem that the words "new" and "old" are "secret" reserved
}words in SQL 4.11.UC1 and 4GL 4.11.UC1 when using Online 5.01.UD2
}for SCO UNIX. This is non-ANSI.
}
}The context is:
}
} select * from tablename new;
}
} select * from tablename old;
}
}The runtime error is: -201 A syntax error has occurred.
}
}There was no error in 4.10 (and possibly 5.00 either).
I just tried this out under a debugger on 4.12 ISQL (not generally
available) over a 5.01.UC2 OnLine engine, and it is the prepare
statement which is failing on "select * from systables new". The same
error is produced by SE.
This indicates that the error is in OnLine, not ISQL. I have entered
it as problem 21454 in PTS with tests against SE and OnLine on Sun.
It should shortly be upgraded to a bug, but when it will be fixed is
another matter.
The workaround is obvious: don't use these names as table aliases.
