No - placeholders are not quoted.
SELECT * FROM SomeWhere WHERE SomeColumn = '?';
SELECT * FROM SomeWhere WHERE SomeColumn = ? ;
These are two very different queries - one takes a placeholder, and
the other does not.

How do you assign the value to the parameters? Presumably not using
SetParameterInfo() - but using what?

When you create a Task (DataPump, ExecuteQuery, DataDriven, etc....) in a DTS Package there is a button that let you assign a value to the parameters of the query. I don't know how this tool works, and how It find the parameters in the query. I think it use the odbc function "SetParameterInfo" or some other function that are not implemented in the odbc driver for Informix 5. Thanks for your help. If you have some idea... I'm here.... :-) Bye Daniele
