News Announcement Informix Licenses Repository From Siemens Nixdorf MENLO PARK, Calif. (February 2, 1993)Q Informix Corporation (NASDAQ:IFMX) announced today that it has licensed and will market Siemens Nixdorf Informationssysteme' (SNI) Repository-System ERMS (Entity Relationship Management System). The Repository-System ERMS is a specialized database system that allows programmers to create, operate and administer a repository. Repository systems are utilized in complex data management applications such as CASE (Computer Aided Software Engineering), CARE (Computer Aided Reverse Engineering), OLTP (Online Transaction Processing) as well as in system- and network management systems. "This technology agreement between Siemens Nixdorf and Informix continues our joint commitment to the open systems marketplace," said Chuck House, senior vice president of product development and marketing. "We are pleased to provide a unique benefit to customers which combines Siemens Nixdorf's expertise in repository technology, along with the powerful feature set of our INFORMIX-OnLine database server." Informix will provide an IRDS interface to the Siemens Nixdorf repository which will be compliant with the FIPS 156 standard and will be available by third quarter 1993. The INFORMIX-Repository will be marketed in three areas: as a repository for large OLTP systems, as a CASE repository in the framework of the Informix OpenCase Program Architecture and as a repository technology for sublicensing.
