re: Is there a crossreference tool available for Informix 4GL
Posted in 2004
Hi Jorg. I made a tool called fgldoc that have the folowing features: - Parse 4gl source files (with a bison parser) - Insert some of the collected information on an infomrix database, namely: - Modules - Functions - Tables used - Functions called - Variables used - Comments of modules and functions (if a pattern similar to javadoc is used) - Based on this information can generate documentation in static html javadoc like format or have JSP(s) that built it dynamically. - It is licenced as GPL. - It was donated to the aubit4gl project (http://www.aubit4gl.com) . - You can see more at http://aubit4gl.sourceforge.net/aubit4gldoc/index.html However this tool have some drawbacks: - It does not work qith all 4gl programs (not all reserved words used as identifiers like variable names or function names work). - It is tested only in Linux - It is strongly dependent on: - Bison,Flex,C, perl (with a lot of diferent modules). I am currently working on a new parser that fixes this problem, but even if the parser is ready i need some weeks to implement the insert of the information in the repository. We have 4GL code separeted into code that's generates shared libraries and code which uses function from this shared libraries. Documentation was bad and it would be really great if we have just a list of functions/procedures and can see which source modules are using this function. > >Mfg J'rg sending to informix-list
