As I've tried to learn Informix, I keep thinking that Oracle is more "natural" for the very reason that all the data and processes are encapsualated together; while Informix everything seems all thrown together... yeah sort of messy. I suspect it's just what you were first trained on - "Mother Tongue" as it were - and it's difficult to change the terms of reference. > Bottom line: I gotta do what I gotta do (what the boss wants). As I've been writing this it occurs to me that a really useful site would be one where common DBA tasks were listed (create DB, add space, move files, etc.) and solutions were provided for each of the RDBM systems. That would be a useful matrix methinks. I'd do it if I had another 24 hours every day.

When I was in school, I used to hear the statement - "Well, I don't know much about music, but I know what I like". Must have heard this thousands of times. I always felt like correcting them by replying .... "No - you don't know much about music, but you like what you know." ;-)
