4gl by example

One thousand and one apologies if this has been raised before, but...
I was playing around with example 30 (the dbschema program) to work out how to
modify it for a little project of mine.
One column in the selected database was defined as DATETIME year TO fraction(5)
which yields a syscolumns.collength value of 4879 (0x130f). The fglbe manual
states that a datetime field is in the 0pls format and specifically states that
the first char of the hex value IS ALWAYS ZERO.
The result of this is that since 4879 is greater than 4096, the to_hex()
function blows up (the datetime conversion function sends it a power value of
3 not expecting to go above 4096).
The box is an HP running Online-Secure 5.0.
Hmmmm....
