can't kill a session using "onmode -z session id"
Hi All,
I encountered problem on my DB. I am dropping a table and it hanged. I decided
to close the window by clicking the "X" button. When i checked, the table
still exists when i use dbaccess-> table-> info. But when i try to select from
the table, the message is table does not exists. Using "onstat -u|grep
informix" it shows the below processes.

when i tried to recreate a new table using the same table name...., i got
error 312: Cannot update system catalog (systables).
107: ISAM error: record is locked.
What do i need to do without restarting the instance?

Jack,
some sessions will not stop after onmode -z instantly though I don't believe
that it applies here.
With all _cautiousness_ you could try onmode -Z transaction-ID. First search
the transaction number with onstat -x. You'll find it in the first column.
In the third column you'll find the userthread which is also in the first
column of onstat -u. In your case supposedly 8023dc30. onstat -x | grep
8023dc30. In the first column is your TID. Be coutious not to kill something
wrong.

onstat -g ses 396875
(and again: onstat -u |grep 396875 , below it is waiting for a checkpoint ?)
