Re: creating databases with GLS ??

Well, I'll not claim to be any GLS expert, but what you did should be
all
you need to do. I played around with it a bit and discovered the
following,
on solaris anyway (on 7.24 and 7.30).
Like you when I used the en_us.8859-1 setting for DB_LOCALE and
CLIENT_LOCALE in the system catalogs I got the name to be
en_US.819. However, if I check the glfiles executable and look
in the lc11.txt file there is no locale named en_US.819. I then
experimented
further by picking to german locales from the lc11.txt file. The first
I
used was de_at.8859-1 and when I looked in systables it was now
de_AT.819. I then tried de_at.CP1252, and in systables it was just
de_AT.1252. So it appears that the value stored in the site column
of tabid 90 or 91 is not the literal value of DB_LOCALE, at least on
sun.
I'm not sure why this is, from the other post it looks like on AIX it is
the literal value. Perhaps HP is like sun and doesn't store the literal
locale name.
I do know that once a database/table is created with a particule locale
the only way to change it is to drop it and recreate it.
