Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.

We were advised in TS021736198 "Partial index query plan change" to exclude NULL values from being indexed by having them in the REMAINDER partition with INDEX OFF. That fixed query plans on other values, and nested loop joins worked again, but we then had a new problem: queries for IS NULL in that column returned no rows. This was raised in TS021966624 "Partial index IS NULL failure", and apparently the solution would be to support IS NOT NULL index fragment elimination which the documentation states is not currently possible. The developers intend to provide this in IDS 15, but we would like this also in IDS 14 for those customers who do not yet want the major upgrade. Excluding NULLs would be the most common use case for partial indexes and would make them massively smaller in many real cases.
