I'm doing some long-range planning, and would like to have some idea of how much more admin work would be required for our databases if we took them to OnLine. If you are functioning as an OnLine DBA, I'd like to hear approximately how much time you spend actually administering the database. If you went to OnLine from the SE engine, I'd like to know how much more DBA work (if any) you do now that you have OnLine. It would help if you also mentioned your environment (hardware, OS, etc.) and a general description of the size of your operation such as number of users, size of database, number of tables or whatever you think is relevant. If you know of any generally accepted figures on the work increase, I'd appreciate it if you could send them to me. I'll be pleasantly surprised if such numbers exist :-). Send replies by e-mail, and I'll post a summary.
