After recently converting from Informix 5 to Informix 7, we were surprised (and our code was broken) by a change in the behavior of the 4GL CONSTRUCT statement. It used to produce statements like this: name = "bob smith" and city = "buffalo" Now it produces statements like this: name = 'bob smith' and city = 'buffalo' S.Q.L. doesn't care whether you use single quotes or double quotes, but we hack on the CONSTRUCTed strings and our hacks naturally stopped working. When did Informix make this change? Is it documented? -:- "We are told by Moralists with the plainest faces that immorality will spoil our looks." --L. P. Smith -- Col. G. L.
