Extent doubling/Fragmented table

In the IDS 7.30 manuals it appears to say that regardless of other settings IDS will double your next extent size after 16 extents in a single table. I am planning on a fragmented table, mostly for management of the data - ease in dropping a fragment, etc, but I expect to have more than 16 fragments. Does this extent doubling occur in fragmented tables, and if so is there a good trick to avoid this 'help' IDS is giving us DBA's with our job? Cheers

The doubling does happen but the 16 extents is calculated per table fragment not per table. Art S. Kagel
