Problem getting a connection with Informix's JDBC class

Hi all, I'm trying to run the sample stuff that came with the Informix jdbc driver and am not having much success. Granted I'm a java newbie but I'm not a newbie for development and I think I have my database setup OK. I'm running SE 7.24 under linux and when I run the SimpleConnection sample with the following url I get errors. My informix server is named 'asxdb' and the database is 'asxtest' java SimpleConnection 'jdbc:informix-sqli://Localhost:1533:informixserver=asxdb;user=myuser;password=mypasswd' The errors are: >>>Simple Connection test. URL = "jdbc:informix-sqli://Localhost:1533:informixserver=asxdb;user=informix;password=zoobar97" ERROR: failed to connect! java.lang.NullPointerException: at SimpleConnection.main(SimpleConnection.java:64) Now, I'm a little confused about the port number referenced in the jdbc url. Should I have something in my /etc/services about this (or somewhere)? Any help appreciated. -darrel
