Fwd: IDS i/o and Solaris
Posted in 2008
All reports are that it works fine. Performance (please test this as YMMV) for COOKED (block) device files runs about 4-6% slower than RAW(characgter) devices and O_DIRECT filesystem files run about 5-8% slower than RAW (character) devices versus COOKED (block) devices without O_DIRECT which are 5-10% slower than RAW and normal filesystem files without O_DIRECT which are from 20-25% slower than RAW.
