Actually, since Informix never had the concept of a "named user", licensing cannot be based on users. You do not add users anywhere in an Informix system, you just grant predefined Unix users database permissions. The licensing is based upon the maximum number of concurrent sessions active at any time with a maximum number of threads per session at 5. So if you have a 500 seat license, keep your session high-water mark below 500 and you should be okay.
