This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.
Dan Mueller (IDS 10.00.FC11, Linux and Solaris) asked whether cores can be treated as CPUs when allocating CPU VPs. Celso Cabral Coimbra and Khaled Bentebal said yes, base the number of CPU VPs on cores, and Khaled noted PVU licensing is also by cores. Art Kagel confirmed with 'Cores yes, threads no.'

Hello All,
IDS 10.00.FC11 (I don't drive the train)
linux & Solaris
General question. Can cores be equated to CPUs for allocating cpuvps? Can you
hold a core up to a cpu definition and use them/it the same?
Thanx,
Dan
Hi Dan,
Yes, you can consider a core as a cpu to allocate cpuvp.

Yes . Processes will run on cores; oninits will run on cores.
When you tune the number of CPU VPS, base it on the numbers of cores just li=
ke you would have done with CPUs if you did not have cores .
As a matter of fact , IBM bases the licensing on cores if you are on PVUs.
