You don't use dbimport but dbload. dbimport is only for importing
whole databases that has been exported from another Informix database
with dbexport. Check the dbload documentation.
However as far as I know a dbf file contains binary data that dbload
can't use. (They are xBase files, aren't they?)
You might want to convert it to a fixed column length format or comma
delimited. The standard utilities for xBase files generate comma
delimited files with quotation marks on each side of character fields.
dbload doesn't cope with this. You will have to make up a simple
script (for sed or another Unix utility) that converts the delimiters
to a single character, one that is not contained in the data. If no
other character is available you may use a tab. That is a little
difficult to set as the delimiter character for dbload, but it is
possible.
If you have OnLine 7.21 (or perhaps also with 7.2) there is a new high
performance loader that may be better, but I don't know anything about
it.
