Hi,
I am trying to make some onbar test using :
onbar -b -wdelete all records of a table
onbar -r -p
onbar -r -l logid
after restore data are still in table.
I have seen in ixbar.0 that there are entries for the specific logid more that
once time.
At some time I have the following error during the onbar -r -n logid
'Duplicate log unique ID found for specified point-in-log restore'.
What I am doing wrong?
What does Duplicate log ... error means
Thanks in adnvace

Hi,
1. after "onbar -b -w" do "onstat -l" and note the unique logid of the
current log.
2. Then do "onmode -lc" to advance to the next log (and force a
checkpoint).
At this point you can do again "onstat -l" to see that the log file has
advanced.
3. Now do the delete action followed by "onbar -r -p".
4. Then use the unique logid noted in 1. above to do the logical restore
"onbar -r -l ...".
This should work as you expect.
I think the effect you saw is, that after the delete operation you still
have the same
log as the current log (as was for the backup). It was backed up multiple
times.
Not sure which version of Informix Server you are using.
Regards, Martin

Hi,
I have tried once before starting the onbar -b -w to salvage the logs [even
if, as I read, onbar does it automatically].
I used the onbar -b -l -s in order to salvage the current logical log.
After that I started again the onbar -r -p and onbar -r -l logid [the logid of
the salvaged log]. But still table records were there.
Looking at ixbar.0 file I have seen many times the same logid at different
dates. I think that this happend because of my restore effords.
I think that somehow I have to get rid off of the older logids. Right?
I tried to delete lines form ixbar.0 but I had errors when restore was started.
I think I have to synchronize sysutils with the ixbar file using onsmsync -b.
But this does not mean that sysutils have the right information.
There are any suggestions?
Thanks
