Procedures in 5 and 7

We are just converting a substatial data base from 5 to 7.2. We noticed that complex stored procedures which run on 5 in 1 second, run on 7 in 12 seconds. Further investigation revealed that the SQL statements inside the procedures work properly, that is as fast if not faster in 7. Any hints on where we should look for answer ? TIA. V.
