If you use onbar you can do your backups online. Onbar offers the
possibility to do a parallel backup of your dbspaces:
onbar -bThis does a Level 0 backup. First rootdbs and dbspaces containing
physical and logical log are backed up. Then onbar starts to do a
parallel backup of your dbspaces.

No, Informix says that if your database is 10GB or less you should use
ontape, because there is no advantage in using onbar. If your database
is greater then 10GB there is a markable increase in performance because
of the possibilty of parallelism.

Use onbar.
