onbar without locical logs
Posted in 1998
Im am using the onbar utility of INFORMIX V7.23 with NetWorker.
The hardware platform is a risc system from SNI (Siemens Nixdorf) called
rm600 and the system software is a UNIX System V (SINIX V5.43).
Now my problem.
I have set LTAPEDEV to /dev/null because I don't want to use the locical
logs for a restore.
But everytime I want to restore the database from a whole physical system
backup with the command onbar -r -w, the locical logs which are not set to
F(ree) will be backed-up before the restore begins.
Since INFORMIX does not really free logical logs if LTAPEDEV=/dev/null,
after an appropriate online time of INFORMIX all logical logs are set to
U---B (used and backed-up).
The result is, that after the physical restore a logical restore will be
done.
My question is.
How can I restore a physical system backup with onbar without saving the
logical logs ?
