Hi,
We installed IDS on Red Hat 6.0. Everything seems to work perfect, but
when trying to connect from remote clients (iDemo)/SQL-editor) we get
the errror -952:
------------ Find error explanation ---------------------------
-952: User's password is not correct for the database server.
The password that is specified for the server computer in your
~/.netrc file or in the USER clause of a CONNECT statement is
incorrect. The database server does not accept (or cannot find) your
account password. Check that your password is specified correctly, and
try again. This message appears with Version 6.0 and later.
----------- End explanation -----------------------------------
I'm sure user/password are correct. I get the same message when using
dbaccess (on the host where the IDS-server is running) and fill in a
the user'informix' and the password for the user 'informix'.
But, I have know problem when I accept the current user, by pressing
twice <ENTER>.
What's wrong in our configuration?

I also had this problem but I think I've found the
solution. MD5 passwords is on by default in Linux
RedHat 6.0 and 6.1. Informix dosen't use the
functions in shadow.h to retrieve the encoded
password they use sscanf() to fetch the entries
from /etc/shadow. I think that the buffer,
supposed to contain the password, is to small
since MD5 passwords is longer than regular pass-
words. Disable MD5 passwords and change the
informix users password. This worked fine for me.
Please send me a note if this worked for you too.
