RE: How Update?

The latest IDS 11.50 release 11.50.xC5 supports Merge statement which can be used for such update joins. For example, MERGE INTO tab2 USING tab1 ON tab1.A = tab2.A WHEN MATCHED THEN UPDATE SET tab2.B = tab1.B; Please refer to http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/idshelp/v115/index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.sqls.doc/ids_sqs_2030.htm for more information on this functionality. thanx Prasad From: "Jack Parker" <jack.parker4@verizon.net> To: <informix-list@iiug.org> Date: 08/01/2009 12:56 PM Subject: RE: How Update? Sent by: informix-list-bounces@iiug.org Update tab2 set d=(select b from tab1 where tab2.a=tab1.a) where 1=1; This assumes you are dealing with less than millions of rows. If the datasets are very large, then I wrote up some techniques to deal with them some time back.
