Informix and National Language Characters
Posted in 1993
Hello Netters Deperate of Basingstoke writes as follows :- I have a problem related to 8-bit characters in Informix. I have a site with a mixture of X-Terms and wyse50 dumb terminals. The major applications on the machine are an accounting system (Chameleon), a report writer (IQ) and Informix V5.0 with 4.10 tools on Motorola 88K 5.4 platform. My problem is as follows :- 1. A user generates an order on the accounting system. the order number is 123| (where | represents the special german character o umlaut.) The problem is that the wyse keyboard generates a pipe sign but the display shows an o umlaut. 2. When the X-Term user attempts to query for the order he presses the o umlaut key which displays as an o umlaut and actualy generates ascii 0366. So informix never finds the order. 3. I can get IQ to remap all its special characters for both terminals, likewise for chameleon. Can I do the same for informix. Surely someone must have experienced this problem before.
