Signals in ESQL/C
Posted in 1994
Has anyone done much with signal handling using ESQL/C? I'm trying to prematurely terminate a process that can take a long time. The current code is written in ESQL/C and I don't have the time to rewrite it in 4GL and use the built-in interrupt handling capabilities of Informix. I have used signal(SIGINT, xxx) before but I think I might be stepping on some toes in the database. I reset the signal back to what it was originally when I am about to leave the function, but I still get errors in the 4GL code that called the C function. Most notably a -408, which says "Invalid message type received from the sqlexec process". The full esplanation says that I need to make sure the software is at the same level as the database server, but that shouldn't be the problem. Any clues/hints? Is there an easier way to do the signal handling? Martin Allred martina@gvgtsg.gvg.tek.com
