Wanted; tools for loading databases

I'm looking for software packages that allows me to from a record specification load data into a database (in this case Informix). Or it could convert and write out the records in *one* format that another program that I write can read and enter into the database. This would be used for converting databases; we get all kinds of medias and record layouts/formats from customers who want to move to a new platform. It can be IBM/EBCDIC records, VMS stuff, semi-colon separated records, fixed length in finitum. The solution has been to write small scripts in Perl to extract the data, then adding it to the database using SQL. Now a customer wants to be able to do this all by themselves, so there is a need for something semi-user friendly that makes it easier to describe tape layouts, charsets etc, and map the fields into fields in our databases. So, does any know of any programstools of this kind, commercial or free? ** Please reply by mail ** I'll post a summary if enough interest ** -- :: clindh@abalon.se :: o/ :: :: :: Abalon AB, Stockholm, Sweden :: /@ :: Earth. :: :: (MIME compliant) :: /!> :: Love it or leave it. :: :: * All disclaimers apply * :: ! climb! :: ::
