If your platform uses TERMCAP, rather than terminfo, the termcap entry you use MUST specify a terminal width sufficient to open a 160 character wide window, and you must have stretched the XTERM window (I assume you are using XTERM if you want a 160x24 window) to AT LEAST 160x24. If your platform uses terminfo check that the xterm updated the stty information for the window as this will be used as the actual window size. Some PC based Xservers do not properly update these values if the window is initially opened to the size you want or your .profile may be setting stty rows and stty columns to some defaults. (I have been guilty of that one!) You can check which library is supported by 4GL in the release notes for your platform. Art S. Kagel
